Most people living in the Carolinas have probably never heard of Chesnee, SC. Those few who have heard of the town are more likely to identify it as a rural peach farming community rather than the home to one of South Carolina’s oldest and most successful e-commerce companies—Covers Direct—which has provided high-quality covers and accessories for cars, trucks, boats, RVs and more since its founding in 2001.
Of the few things that we know a little bit about in this world, car covers and vehicle accessories were not at the top of the list. So, when the good folks at Covers Direct approached bitTyrant to get some digital branding and social media help starting with their daughter company, Car Covers Direct (CCD), we knew it was going to be a fun challenge—especially considering their stiff national and international competition.
Given the nature of CCD’s business model coupled with the psychographic and demographic research we conducted during our Discovery Phase, we determined that facebook would be the “tip of the social spear” for CCD. Six months later, Car Covers Direct is now the most popular car cover company on social media with over 25,000 mostly US-based, car-loving facebook fans (we started with about 300 fans) along with large increases in followers and engagement across their other social accounts as well. CCD’s new blog is helping improve the company’s organic SEO while also providing valuable car tips and news to their fans. CCD’s in-house marketing team is now comfortably holding the reigns of their social media channels, and one of South Carolina’s top e-commerce companies continues to improve its online reach and bottom line.
